Fatherhood
The Seer Dad
Wise and thorough, but learning to lighten up.
Seer dads bring wisdom, careful thought, and high standards to their families. Kids learn to think critically, do things right, and value quality. Seers prepare their kids well for life's challenges through teaching and modeling. But Seers can also be overly critical, emotionally distant, and so focused on doing things correctly that they miss the joy of just being with their kids.
Your kids need your wisdom. They also need your playfulness.
Seer Dad Strengths
- Wise: Teaches kids to think and reason well
- Prepared: Helps kids be ready for challenges
- Quality-focused: Models excellence and thoroughness
- Thoughtful: Considers before reacting
- Educational: Makes learning a priority
Your kids don't need perfect. They need present. Sometimes the best thing you can do is put down the teaching and just play. Let go of the lesson plan and enter their world.
Seer Dad Challenges
Critical: High standards feel like constant correction.
Emotionally distant: More comfortable teaching than connecting.
Inflexible: Struggling when kids don't do things the right way.
Over-analyzing: Can't just be in the moment.
Perfectionism: Nothing is ever quite good enough.
Your Action Steps
This week: Play with your kids without teaching or correcting.
This month: Praise effort and character, not just performance.
This quarter: Ask your kids: "Do you feel like I'm proud of you?"
